#10 Isiah”Zeke”Coats c/o '63

Isiah "Zeke" Coats played football  from 1959-1963. His outstanding performance at quarterback earned him the team Most Valuable Player Award and being named to the All-SIAC Team for four consecutive years. Coats served as Co-Captain in 1961 and 1962. Coats set several records for the Maroon Tigers, including longest TD pass from scrimmage. In 1984, Coats was inducted into the Atlanta University Center Sports Hall of Fame. In 1998, Coats was also inducted into the SIAC Hall of Fame. Prior to his passing in 2019, Zeke Coats legacy was cemented by the founding of the Zeke Coats Foundation which supports Atlanta athletes attending HBCUs with scholarships. iN 2024, they awarded scholarships to football players from both Morehouse and Clark-Atlanta.
