James Haines

Under the leadership of legendary Coach James “Pinky” Haines, The Morehouse Tiger Sharks were 255-25 from 1958 to 1976.  During this stretch, the team once went 115 meets without a loss! The Tiger Sharks won 14 SIAC championships and is still considered the greatest sports program in school history.

Prior to arriving at Morehouse, Haines played with Josh Gibson with the Homestead Grays and also played for the Harlem Globetrotters.  Haines has become an institution on campus. He not only founded the swimming team but lobbied successfully for the pool.
