Harold Ellis, c/o 1992

Ellis is the only Morehouse athlete to have his jersey number retired after a collegiate basketball career averaging more than 24 points per game in four years and leading Morehouse to the 1989-90 NCAA Division II Final Four. After graduating from Morehouse College in 1992, Ellis began a successful three-season NBA career, playing for the Los Angeles Clippers and the Denver Nuggets. 

Ellis was an outstanding NCAA Division II player who led the Maroon Tigers in scoring each of his four seasons (1988-92). He became only the fifth player from a historically black college or university (HBCU) to have his uniform number retired (#30). During his four-year career, Morehouse had a 90-30 record.  Ellis was a member of the USA team that Puerto RIco in the 1993 Tournament of the Americas.

In August of 2023, Ellis was named the athletic director at Morehouse.
