B.T. Harvey 

Burwell Towns "B.T." Harvey, Jr. (b. 1892 d. 1971) was a science professor at Morehouse College, but is also known for his remarkable winning record as their athletic coach. During his time at Morehouse he founded and edited the Morehouse Journal of Science, documenting the achievements and contributions of African Americans in science. Harvey was commissioner of the Southern Inter-Collegiate Athletic Conference for 25 years. Also, Harvey founded and published Bench Talk Heard, a weekly newsletter chronicling Black college sports events and professional Black athletes.

Harvey coached basketball at Morehouse from 1916-1926 and 1927-1929, compiling a 117-18 record during his tenure.  Harvey won ten consecutive SIAC conference championships.  Harvey still has the highest winning percentage in Maroon Tigers basketball history (.860).  The football stadium at Morehouse, B.T. Harvey Stadium is named after Harvey.
