Tournament Notes
Edward Waters reached the quarterfinals after entering the tournament as the No. 5 seed from the East Division and defeating Central State, the No. 4 seed from the West, in the opening round. Morehouse opens its tournament run against a team it has already beaten once this season. Morehouse has has been hot in the 2026 calendar year with a separate ten-game winning streak and a five-game winning streak, yielding 15 wins in their last 17 contests . The Maroon Tigers will look to continue their late-season momentum into postseason play.
What this one likely comes down to
If Morehouse can do two things it did well in the first meeting — pressure the ball and create transition offense — the Maroon Tigers should like the matchup. But Edward Waters has enough size, rebounding, and interior efficiency behind Evans to make this a real quarterfinal test, especially on a neutral floor. Morehouse's edge is its depth of perimeter playmakers and its ability to flip possessions with steals; if the Maroon Tigers win the turnover battle again, they will have a strong chance to move on to the semifinals. Morehouse vs. Edward Waters has all the ingredients of a strong quarterfinal test: a familiar opponent, a recent close result, and a winner moving one step closer to a championship weekend run.
