SALISBURY, N.C. — Morehouse College head men's basketball coach Larry Dixon added another honor to an already accomplished basketball career, earning induction into the Salisbury-Rowan Sports Hall of Fame as a member of its Class of 2026.
Dixon was formally inducted during the Hall of Fame's annual ceremony on Saturday, Aug. 8, at the Salisbury Civic Center in Salisbury, North Carolina. He was one of eight individual inductees selected for the 2026 class, which also included Damien Argrett, Hillary Hampton Nixon, Wade Moore, Roger Secreast, Sheldon "Skip" Shipman and Bobby Parker, along with the 1955 American Legion Baseball Team.
The Salisbury-Rowan Sports Hall of Fame recognizes individuals who are native to, have worked in or have competed in Rowan County and whose careers have made a meaningful impact on sports. Honorees are selected based on character, significant contributions through participation and performance, and their impact on athletics at the local, regional, national or international level.

For Dixon, the honor connects his basketball roots in the Salisbury-Rowan community with a career that has continued to grow through coaching and leadership.
Now leading the men's basketball program at Morehouse, Dixon made an immediate impact during the 2025-26 season. In his first year with the Maroon Tigers, he guided Morehouse to a 22-10 overall record, a 19-5 mark in SIAC play, the SIAC East Division championship and the SIAC Tournament championship. Dixon, as an assistant coach, also helped lead North Carolina State to an ACC Tournament Championship and an NCAA Final Four appearance in 2023-24.
The tournament title was Morehouse's first since 2003 and earned the Maroon Tigers their first NCAA Division II Tournament appearance since 2018. Dixon's 22 victories also established a new Morehouse benchmark for wins by a first-year head coach.
His induction comes as the latest chapter in a career built around basketball, mentorship and the development of young men. While the Hall of Fame honor recognizes the body of work that connected Dixon to the Salisbury-Rowan sports community, his first season at Morehouse demonstrated that his influence continues to expand.
Dixon's name now joins generations of athletes, coaches and sports figures enshrined by the Salisbury-Rowan Sports Hall of Fame, which has recognized members of the area's athletic community since its inaugural Class of 2001.
