Coach Whittler On First Game Of The Season

Atlanta, GA- On Monday night, Men's Basketball had their first game of the season after having a whole season off due to COVID-19. To kick off the season they played against Columbus State University, it was a great game and the team played hard, but Columbus State was more consistence with their shots and ended up taking the win. After the game, our Communications Director Tatiana Stands sat down to interview Coach Whittler to see the next steps as they prepare for their game today against Young Harris.

Question 1: Monday was the first game of the season after having a whole season off. How are you feeling after Monday nights game? Do you plan on working on certain areas?
Coach Whittler responded with: "I am feeling encouraged. The beginning of this journey leaves so much room for us to grow. As of now we are working on building defensive principles and continue building our habits and offensive chemistry."
Question 2: Your next game is this Wednesday against Young Harris how is the team preparing for this game?
Coach Whittler: "The way we are preparing for Wednesday game is making sure we have our mental fortitude and condition locked in."
Question 3: As a team, how do you think they played? Was there any weakness or strengths that affected them?
Coach Whittler: "As a team we are still looking to reach our maximum potential. We are learning that the hard part of success is the mental part. If we can get over those hurdles that will be our success. My strength as the Coach is to build their intestinal fortitude as they have a standard to uphold as Morehouse men. As a Morehouse Alumna I plan to teach them our culture."
