Scouting MHC: The Maroon Tigers enter Monday's game 10-11 after loss to Clark Atlanta University that saw senior center/forward
Kairo Whitfield (Atlanta, GA) lead the Maroon Tigers in scoring for a second-straight game with 12 points on 5-9 shooting from the field. Sophomore guard
Devin Russell (Center Point, AL) scored seven points, grabbed four rebounds and snagged one steal. Senior guard/forward
Tremell Gooden (Atlanta, GA) came close to getting a double-double, tallying six points, eight rebounds and two steals.
Scouting FVSU: The Wildcats have been struggling as of late, recently ending their three-game losing streak on Saturday with a 75-72 win against Albany State in their homecoming game. The Wildcats were led by senior forward Shawn Foxbrennen (Miami Gardens, Fla.) who scored 21 points on 7-11 shooting from the field while also grabbing a team-high eight rebounds. Senior guard K'Viontae Williams (Marion, Ala.) scored 16 points and contributed defensively with four steals. Junior forward D'Angelo Strickland (Lithonia, Ga.) not only scored 11 points, but also got his teammates involved and had an impact defensively with his six assists and three steals.
Seven Straight Wins: The Maroon Tigers have beaten Fort Valley a whopping seven straight times. Morehouse last played the Wildcats in February during the 2018-2019 season. MHC won that game 63-50. The Maroon Tigers will be aiming to get an eighth-straight win against the Wildcats.
First Match of the Year: The Maroon Tigers play the Wildcats twice in their next five games. Their final match will take place on the road on February 27
th. Morehouse should be favored to win both matches, as the Wildcats currently have a 6-18 record.
