th, 2019 in Winston-Salem, N.C. on the campus of Winston-Salem State University in the Gaines Center. Tip-Off is set for 6 p.m.
SCOUTING MHC - MHC enters Friday's game with a 1-0 record after Tuesday night's 73-61 victory over Fisk University that saw senior guard
Michael Olmert (Atlanta, GA) fall just three assist shy of picking up a triple-double as he finished with 11 points, 10 rebounds and seven assist. Sophomore forward
Xavier Brewer (Atlanta, GA) came off the bench to score a game-high 15 points while hauling down eight rebounds in the win. Sophomore guard
Malik Kennedy (Toronto Ontario, CAN) had 14 points and six rebounds while freshman
Demarcus Johnson (East Point, GA) chipped in with 10 points off the bench.
SCOUTING SU - The Bears opened up the season, splitting two contest during their Shaw Classic last weekend. Shaw defeated Frostburg State, 96-92 and fell to regional powerhouse and No. 4 team in the nation, West Liberty by the score of 132-85. Averaging 90.5 points per game, the Bears offense is led by junior guard Greyson Kelley (Raleigh, NC) who hauled in 27 points against Frostburg State. Freshman Dhashon Dyson (Chicago, IL) follows averaging 20 points per contest after leading Shaw in scoring against No. 4 West Liberty with 25 points.
CHALLEGE ACCEPTED – The Maroon Tigers look
to continue their dominance in the CIAA/SIAC Challenge as they have won all four games the previous two years of the challenge versus Shaw and Winston-Salem. Last season the Maroon Tigers defeated the Bears 93-75 while knocking off the Rams 66-61.
WIZARD OF THE WEST END GETS 300 – Considered "The Wizard of the West End" for his basketball prowess in the west end neighborhood of Atlanta, Georgia, Head coach
Grady Brewer reached a milestone in Tuesdays win versus Fisk University as he picked up win number 300 as head coach of the Maroon Tigers. Brewers 300 wins sits him second all-time in Morehouse coaching victories behind Arthur J. McAfee (463) and ahead of Frank L. Forbes (298).
WHERE DO WE RANK? - The Maroon and White come into tonight's game ranked #25 in the NABC Coaches Poll. Last season Morehouse was ranked as high as #3, the highest national ranking in MHC history.
