OPENING TIP - The #7 ranked Morehouse College basketball team looks for their 10th straight win on Monday as they travel to Columbia, S.C. to take on Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) eastern division foe Benedict College at the HRC Arena. Tip is set for 7 p.m. ET.

SCOUTING MHC - MHC enters Monday's game with an impressive 13-1, 7-1 SIAC record after Saturday afternoons 84-61 victory over Paine College that saw senior forward Omar Alston (Waldorf, MD) pull off a triple-double with a season-high 18 rebounds, 11 assist and 13 points. Junior Guard Michael Olmert (Atlanta, GA) had a double-double with 13 assist and 11 points in the win. The Maroon Tigers have four players producing in double figure scoring averages with Alston recording a team-best 15.5 points per game as well as leading the SIAC in rebounds with 11.4 per game good enough for fifth nationally and eleven blocks. Junior Robert Andrews is second on the team averaging 12.9 points per game while Chibueze Ebinum (Lanham, MD) is scoring 10.5 points per contest. Olmert is averaging 10.5 points while dishing out an SIAC-best 8.4 assist per game which ranks him fourth in the NCAA. 

SCOUTING BC - Benedict enters this weekends game with a record of 2-13, 1-7 SIAC. The Tigers lost on Saturday to Clark Atlanta University 87-73. BC is led by Romello Jones who is averaging team-high 11.5 points per game and 5.3 rebounds. Aaron Bryan is second on the team in scoring, averaging 11.3 points per game while Tyrease Mapp is the teams third leading scorer at 10.8 and leads the team with 6.0 rebounds per contest.

RUNNING THE POINT - Omar Alston had a career-high 11 assist while playing point guard during the Maroon Tigers 84-61 victory over Paine.

ON FIRE - In the last two games JUCO transfer Robert Andrews has lit it up from behind the arc connecting on an impressive 9-of-12 three pointers.

QUEST FOR 300 - Head coach Grady Brewer is just 8 wins shy of 300 career wins as head coach of the Maroon Tigers. Brewer's 292 wins sits him third all-time in Morehouse coaching victories behind Arthur J. McAfee (463) and Frank L. Forbes (298).

WHERE DO WE RANK? - The Maroon and White come into tonight's game ranked #7 in the NABC Coaches Poll. Last season Morehouse was ranked as high as #7 during their historic season which saw MHC finish with a 25-3 record and host the NCAA DII South Regional.

UP NEXT - The Maroon Tigers return to action on Saturday and Monday for MLK Weekend basketball as they host Fort Valley State University on Sat., Jan. 19 and Albany State University for an MLK Day matinee on Monday, Jan., 21. Both tip times are set for 3 p.m. ET and the games are free admission.
