Box Score
January 27, 2018 – AUGUSTA, GA – This game was nowhere near the 43-point blowout of the last time these two teams met, but today's 83-73 win over the Paine College Lions was enough to extend the Morehouse win streak to 18 straight games.
At their last meeting, December 3, Morehouse routed Paine 100-57, for the biggest margin of victory this season.
After a steal and layup by Tyrius Walker gave Morehouse a 2-0 lead, the Maroon Tigers led most of the way, including by 39-33 at the half.
The second half was more of the same, as Morehouse again built a double-digit lead of as many as 16 points.
Except for the score, most of the stats were about equal. Each team had 34 rebounds and shot about 50 percent from the floor. One big difference was turnovers. The Maroon Tigers forced 22 turnovers and converted those errors to 27 points. Morehouse committed 13 turnovers but it only cost nine points.
Four Maroon Tigers posted double figures, led by Omar Alston and Tyrius Walker, with 14 points each.
Alston chipped in a team-high 10 rebounds, to record his sixth double-double of the season. The Big Man from Waldorf, MD added three assists, three steals and a blocked shot.
Walker, last week's SIAC Player of the Week and the league's scoring leader (23.9 ppg), added six rebounds, six assists and two steals.
Team co-captain Martravious Little and junior transfer James Walker each contributed 12 points, with Little hitting 6 of 11 shots from the field.
James Walker, last week's SIAC Newcomer of the Week, sank 4 of 5 shots from beyond the arc, grabbed four rebounds and dished out two assist.
