Morehouse Ties 14-Game Win Streak

Box Score

January 13, 2018 – FORT VALLEY, GA – Tyrius Walker exploded for 35 points and powered Morehouse to a, 72-70, win over the Fort Valley State Wildcats.

The 14th consecutive win extends the Tigers' historic start-of-season win streak and ties the longest win streak in Morehouse history, which was set in the 2002-03 season and repeated in 2012-13.

This game was a far cry from the 20-point blowouts the Tigers have been enjoying lately. This come-from-behind win, which featured eight ties and eight lead changes, was decided in the game's last minute.

Co-captains Walker and Martravious Little scored the Tigers' final seven points. Walker hit a three-pointer and two free throws, to tie the game twice. Little put the Tigers over the top, with two free throws.

Hitting 12 of 23 shots, including 6 of 9 from beyond the arc, Walker tied his season high, set in the win over Miles, November 27.

Omar Alston helped Morehouse to a 39-29 rebounding advantage, with a game-high nine boards. Alston, the SIAC's most accurate shooter, took only four shots and made three, for seven points.

Little, Tony Evans and Duby Maduegbunam each scored six points.

Four Wildcats posted double figures, led by Walter Foster, with 18 points and eight rebounds. The Wildcats, who occupy the #5 spot in the SIAC East,  fell to 9-10; 6-4.

Morehouse stays on the road, Monday, at Albany State, at 7 p.m. and returns home, January 20, to face the SIAC East-leading Claflin University Panthers.
