Maroon Tigers Thrash Tuskegee For Sixth Win in Row

Box Score Morehouse rolled to a sixth consecutive win, beating the Tuskegee Golden Tigers, 74-55.

Early missed shots and turnovers got the Maroon Tigers off to a slow start and they fell behind 24-12. But the Tigers rallied, out-scoring Tuskegee 25-5, in the remainder of the first half. The run included 18 unanswered points, which led to a 37-29 halftime lead. 

It was more of the same, in the second half, as Morehouse extended the lead to 25 points, before easing off the gas pedal. 

Omar Alston, with 15 points and a game-high eight rebounds, and Tyrius Walker, with 15 points and five rebounds, led the Tigers, on the stat sheet. Alston hit 7 of 8 shots and Walker added two assists and two steals. 

In his best game since transitioning from the gridiron, Tremell Gooden had a major impact on the hardwood. Gooden a wide receiver-turned shooting guard, hit 4 of 5 shots, for eight points, and hauled in seven rebounds. 

The blowout win that pushed Morehouse to 6-0, gave some reserves some valuable playing time. 

James Walker chipped in nine points and four rebounds. Duby Maduegbunam added eight points and two rebounds and Michael Olmert contributed seven points, four rebounds and four assists. 

Gregg Boyd and Cam Grepke scored 12 points each for Tuskegee, which dropped to 0-6. 

Morehouse will travel to Birmingham, Monday, to face the Miles Golden Bears, and return home, Saturday, at 7 p.m., to take on the Paine College Lions.
