Tigers Burned by Dragons

Box Score January 2, 2017 – JACKSON, TN – Morehouse suffered a second road loss in two days, falling to the Lane College Dragons, 97-84.

Lane led nearly from end to end and avenged an 80-74 loss to Morehouse, December 10. The lead reached as high as 21 points midway through the second half.

Once in each half, the Tigers closed the double-digit lead to eight points, only to have the Dragons surge ahead on the strength of six players who scored in double figures.

Morehouse slipped to 6-4; 1-2. Lane improved to 6-7; 3-1.

The Dragons won the rebounding battle 40-27.

Duby Maduegbunam poured in a career-high 26 points. The sophomore transfer from Boston hit 8 of 17 shots from the field, including four three pointers, and sank six free throws.

Three other Tigers posted double figures. Freshman Keyshaun Jacobs had his most productive outing, hitting half of his eight points, for 13 points.

Tyrius Walker scored 12 points, to go with four rebounds.

Ayinde Russell added 10 points.

Morehouse returns to home action, Thursday, at 7 p.m., against the Kentucky State Thorobreds.
