Bears Beat Maroon Tigers at Home

Box Score November 18, 2016 – ATLANTA – The Maroon Tigers shot a season-low 25 percent from the field and fell to the Shaw University Bears, 65-54, at home.

Morehouse fell into an early hole and never recovered, trailing from start to finish, mostly by double digits.

Morehouse evened its record at 2-2; Shaw improved to 2-0.

Cold shooting was the culprit and it was a total team effort. The 19 of 76 shooting was the lowest since last season when Morehouse shot 17 of 57 in a loss to Central State. It also didn't help that the Bears out-rebounded the Maroon Tigers 53-44.

After shooting a paltry 17 percent in the first half, Morehouse played better in the second half. The Tigers came out firing and cut the 11 point lead nearly in half, in the early moments. But the Bears surged and the teams each scored 36 points after intermission.

Martravious Little led the Tigers in shooting, but it took him 16 shots to get there. Tyrius Walker has a similar game, scoring 15 points, on 6 of 20 shooting.

One of the few bright spots was that the Maroon Tigers forced 21 turnovers, while committing only 13.

Morehouse returns to action at home, November 26, at 7 p.m., against another CIAA opponent – Virginia Union.
