January 21, 2016 – ATLANTA – Ayinde Russell poured in 20 second-half points, to lift Morehouse to a 63-58 win over the Spring Hill College Badgers.

Russell, a freshman point guard from Atlanta, started slowly, hitting only one of four shots in the first 20 minutes. But with Morehouse down 31-28 at the half, the 6'-3" guard from Tucker High School turned it up after intermission, connecting on 8 of 13 shots, including three from beyond the arc.

Finishing with a game-high 24 points, Russell added a team-high four assists and two rebounds to his impressive stats line.

Close from start to finish, the game featured nine ties and eight lead changes, with neither team leading by more seven points.

It was a mixed bag of near highs and lows for the Maroon Tigers who recorded their best shooting percentage of the season, at 49 percent, but countered that with the lowest free-throw percentage at 31. The Tigers turned the ball over a season-low seven times.

Nonetheless, the Maroon Tigers improved to 8-5, overall, and evened their conference record at 4-4, against the SIAC West Division Badgers.

Tyrone Brown, last week's SIAC co-Player of the Week, scored eight of his 11 points in the first half, to help keep Morehouse close. He hauled in five rebounds and had Morehouse's only two blocked shots.

Robert Askew also scored eight points in the first half and finished with 10 points, to go with three rebound and three assists.

Miodrag Minic came off the bench and led all players with 11 rebounds and chipped in five points.

Four Badgers posted double figures, led by Sawyer Glick, who scored 16 points. Jack Morrisey had 12 points for the Badgers, who fell to 5-11; 3-5.

Morehouse returns to action, Saturday, at 3 p.m., against East Division rival, the Paine College Lions.
