Box Score February 23, 2015 -- ALBANY, GA – Robert Askew tipped in a missed shot at the buzzer and lifted Morehouse to a 75-73 thriller over the Albany State Golden Rams.
Askew's tip, of a Tyrius Walker miss, gave Morehouse a second straight win.
Morehouse trailed most of the game, but with four minutes remaining, a three-pointer by Michael Scott gave Morehouse its first lead of the game.
In the final moments, Morehouse retained the edge, until the :07 mark, when Larry Bullock's two free-throws tied the score, and set up Askew's heroics.
Finishing with 13 points and eight rebounds, Askew had his best game since posting 15 and 10, in a win over Tuskegee, on January 3.
Scott, who hit three shots from beyond the arc, for nine points, seems to have regained his shooting touch, after missed three games with a foot injury.
Tyrius Walker sank 8 of 14 shots, including four three-pointers and led all scorers with 24 points. He added four rebounds and three assists.
Michael Hall scored eight points and a grabbed a game-high nine rebounds.
Continuing to hit the boards, as he did in the Clark Atlanta game, Miodrag Minic grabbed seven rebounds and helped the Tigers win the offensive rebounding battle, 18-8. Offensive rebounding leads to 2nd-Chance-Points, and Morehouse won that battle 17-3.
Tonight's win, and the 70-68 win over Albany State, on January 5, completed a series sweep of the Rams, who knocked Morehouse out of last year's SIAC tournament.
Morehouse rose to 15-10; 13-5 SIAC and has more than doubled the wins over last season's 7-20 record.
Tigers travel to Augusta, GA, Thursday, for the season finale against Paine, the SIAC's #1 team. Morehouse beat Paine 62-61, on January 29, when the Lions came into Forbes Arena riding a 14-game win streak.
Currently ranked #4 in the South Region, Paine sits atop the SIAC East Division, followed by Morehouse and Benedict.
The SIAC Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament runs March 3-8, in Birmingham, AL. The brackets will be announced Saturday, following the last games of the season.
