Javarius Gay had a season-best 18 points against Benedict
Box Score February 12, 2015 – COLUMBIA, SC – Javarius Gay poured in a season-high 18 points and propelled Morehouse to a 68-57 win over the arch-nemesis Benedict College Tigers.

Gay scored 14 of his points in the second half, as part of an offensive explosion that overcame a 29-25 halftime lead. Gay sank 6 of 11 shots and added four rebounds.

The Maroon Tigers outscored the host Tigers by 15 points after intermission and avenged a 69-60 loss, on January 26, at Forbes Arena.

Tyrius Walker got into the second-half scoring spree, pumping in 12 of his 14 points, to go with four rebounds and two assists.

Tyrone Brown did his part in the second, with nine of his game-high 13 rebounds, which helped Morehouse enjoy a 38-29 rebounding advantage. Brown hit 5 of 8 shots and made both of his free throws, for 12 points, on the way to his fifth double-double of the season.

Austin Anderson matched Brown's 12 points and hauled in three rebounds. Rasheed Shofidiya got his first start of the season and chipped in two points and three rebounds.

Morehouse's surge started at the 13-minute mark, when a basket by Robert Askew gave the Maroon Tigers a one-point lead. Fouled on the play, Askew missed the free throw, but Brown rebounded and dunked the miss and the rout was on.

Ball possession was one of the keys to victory. The Maroon Tigers turned the ball over only 10 times, a stark contrast to the 20 turnovers that led to the loss to Claflin at home, Monday.

Deonte Johnson, with 17 points and seven rebounds, and Andrew Crawford, with 11 points and six rebounds, did the heavy lifting for Benedict. Jordan Smit added 12 points.

The win kept the Maroon Tigers a game ahead of Benedict at the #2 spot in the SIAC East Division.

Morehouse moved to 13-9; 11-4. Benedict dropped to 13-9; 11-5.

The Maroon Tigers will be looking for more revenge, Monday, when the Fort Valley State Wildcats visit Forbes Arena. The Wildcats, who were 1-17 at the time, beat the Maroon Tigers on a buzzer beat, February 2, down in the Valley.
