Javarius Gay led six Maroon Tigers in double figures and Morehouse outlasted the Clark Atlanta Panthers, 81-71, in a cross-campus cat fight.

Gay knocked down 6 of 10 shots and finished with a game-high 17 points. Adding to his all around solid game, Gay collected nine rebounds and two assists.

Bolstered by Gay's hot shooting and 10 first-half points by Brandon Glover, Morehouse muscled its way to a 38-29 halftime lead, in front of one of the largest, loudest crowds this season.

The Panthers chipped away at the Morehouse advantage and the lead changed hands multiple times. But the Maroon Tigers restored order in the final minutes. A layup by Robert Askew and free throws by Tyrone Brown and Tyrius Walker powered a 8-3 run that put the game out of reach.

Brown collected 12 points and five rebounds. Walker tallied 12 points, eight rebounds, four assists and threee steals.

Askew logged a team-high 32 minutes and scored 11 points, to go with seven rebounds.

Austin Anderson, the team's only senior, hit 5 of 11 shots, for 11 points.

Morehouse improved to 11-7; 9-2 SIAC. The Tigers and Panthers will meet in a rematch at Forbes Arena, February 21, at 3:30 p.m.

Three Panthers posted double figures, led by Joseph Hughes, who recorded game-highs in points (18) and rebounds (11). Najee Whitehead scored 17 points and Allan Dempster had 10, as CAU fell to 3-15 2-9 SIAC.

Morehouse will travel south, Monday, to tackle the Fort Valley State University Wildcats, before returning to Forbes Arena, Thursday, to play the Albany State Golden Rams.
