Maroon Tigers Fall to Benedict

January 26, 2015 – ATLANTA – Morehouse followed up Saturday's exciting at-the-buzzer win over Claflin, with a 69-60 let-down loss to the Benedict College Tigers.

The Maroon Tigers shot 36 percent from the field, seven points below their season average. Benedict shot 42 percent from the field, including 59 percent from beyond the arc.

Morehouse led 35-33 at the half, but was out-scored 36-25, after the break.

Brandon Glover scored all 10 of his points in the first half and tied for the team high with Michael Hall who scored his 10 points in the second half.

The loss continues a losing trend to Benedict who has beaten Morehouse in 15 of their previous 16 meetings. The last Morehouse victory was January 26, 2013, when the Maroon Tigers won 68-65, at home.

Morehouse (9-7; 7-2 SIAC) maintains the #2 spot in the SIAC East, ahead of #3 Benedict, which improved to 9-7; 6-3.  

Three Benedict Tigers posted double figures, led by Deonte Johnson, with 19 points. Andrew Crawford scored 15 points and Brennan Reynard added 12.

Morehouse returns to action, Thursday, at 7:30 p.m., when the Paine College Lions visit Forbes Arena. Currently, the Lions sit atop the SIAC, at 13-3, and the East Division, at 9-0. Paine has won the last 3 of 4 meetings.
 

SCHEDULE NOTE:

The Morehouse-Clark Atlanta University game
scheduled for Saturday, at CAU, has been moved up to 3:00 p.m.
