Maroon Tigers Fall to Lions

| By:
February 15, 2014 – ATLANTA – The Maroon Tigers fell behind early and never recovered against the Paine College Lions who won 86-72.

Morehouse shot only 39 percent from the field, including 1 of 9 from beyond the arc. Paine shot 54 percent and hit 9 of 19 three pointers.

The opposite was true from the free-throw line, where the Maroon Tigers shot 81 percent compared to Paine's 38 percent.

Morehouse won the rebounding battle – 44-37 – but it wasn't enough to compensate for the poor shooting and porous defense.

The loss was the third straight to the Lions, including a 72-63 loss, January 27, in Augusta.

Morehouse dropped to 7-14 (4-8 SIAC).

Darrius Williams had the hot hand for Morehouse, pouring in 18 points and pulling down 10 rebounds.

Austin Anderson added 14 points and Robert Askew chipped in 13 points and 10 rebounds.

All five Lion's starter scored in double figures. Jordan Warner had the best day, with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Paine improved to 13-10 (8-5 SIAC).

Morehouse travels to Fort Valley, GA, Tuesday, at 7:30, to take on the Wildcats and return to Forbes Arena, Thursday, to play the Albany State Golden Rams.
