January 25, 2014 – COLUMBIA, SC – The Maroon Tigers scored a season-low 18 first-half points and lost to the Benedict Tigers, 71-66.

The 18 points came on 3 of 19 shooting (16%), also a season low. Scoring improved in the second half – 19 of 34 (55%) – but it wasn't enough to overcome the 13-point deficit against the SIAC's leading team.

Suffering the first three-game losing streak of the season, Morehouse slipped to 5-11 (2-6 SIAC).

Darrius Williams led the Maroon Tigers, with 16 points, on 5 of 10 shooting and six free throws.

Austin Anderson contributed 15 points, as did Robert Askew, who hit 5 of 6 shots from the field and 5 of 7 free throws.

Joshua Simmons led Morehouse in rebounding, with eight boards.

Deonte Johnson led Benedict, with game-highs in points (19) and rebounds (14). Lamar Adkins added 14 points, as Benedict, the two-time defending SIAC champion, improved to 12-5 (7-2 SIAC).

Morehouse will play the Paine College Lions, Monday, at 7:30 p.m., in Augusta, and then return home for a Thursday matchup against the Fort Valley State Wildcats.
