Maroon Tigers Streak at Ten

| By:

January 28, 2013 – ATLANTA – Darrius Williams recorded his fifth double-double of the season and led Morehouse to its tenth consecutive win, a 71-64 victory over the Paine College Lions.

Williams hit 11 of 16 shots, for a game-high 25 points, to go with a game-high 11 rebounds and two assists.

Though never leading by double digits, Morehouse maintained a comfortable lead most of the game and rarely seemed threatened by the 7-10 Lions. A barrage of Lion threes midway through the second half tied the score, but the Tigers surged ahead to the finish line.

Continuing his steady play and senior leadership, Shawn Allen recorded his twelfth double-digit game of the season and grabbed six rebounds.

After a rough start of early fouls and turnovers, Jonathan Tassin pulled it together and hit 3 of 4 shots from the field and 5 of 6 free throws, to finish with 11 points and three rebounds.

Andrae Nelson finished with seven points and four rebounds. Nelson who was just named last week's SIAC Player of the Week, for his career game (25 points, 21 rebounds) in Saturday's win over Benedict, got into early foul trouble and played only 16 minutes.

Michael Zeigler, whose two pressure free throws sealed the deal against Benedict, on Saturday, poured in a season-high nine points and hauled down four rebounds. He also had a team-high four assists.

Darius Smith (12 pts.), Sean Morgan (10 pts.) and Kedric Taylor led the Lions.

Morehouse travels to Fort Valley State, to tangle with the Wildcats, Thursday, at 7:30 p.m., before returning to face the Clark Atlanta Panthers, Saturday at 6 p.m.

The game will be played at Forbes Arena, but will be a home game for the Panthers.
