January 9, 2012 – MEMPHIS, TN – Daniyal Faquir shook off subpar shooting in Saturday's loss to Miles and poured in 28 points, to propel Morehouse to a, 56-51, win over the LeMoyne-Owen Magicians.

Faquir hit 5-of-10 three-pointers and 9-of-14 free throws to register the highest point total of any Maroon Tiger this season. His scoring was a marked contrast to his 2-of-10 shooting, for six points Saturday.

Following a 23-22 halftime advantage, the Tigers took an 11-point lead deep into the second half, but fouls and turnovers let the Magicians rally to a 46-all tie, with five minutes remaining.

In another turnabout from Saturday's game, the Tigers hit critical free throws down the stretch. In addition to Faquir, who made nine free throws in the second half, Andrae Nelson hit 7-of-8 from the line in the second half.

Nelson matched his season-high of 13 rebounds, to lead all players. He scored 13 points, for his fourth double-double of the year, and blocked three shots.

Shawn Allen contributed nine points, five rebounds, three steals and two blocks, as Morehouse improved to 3-5 (3-3 SIAC).

Calvin Stoudemire led the Magicians 5-6 (5-4 SIAC), with 12 points and eight rebounds.

Morehouse returns to the friendly confines of Forbes Arena, for a 7:30 p.m. game, Thursday, against Kentucky State, then matches up with the Lane College Dragons, Saturday, at 3 p.m.
