January 28, 2012 -- ALBANY, GA -- Adam Callaway had a breakout scoring day, with 14 points, and three other Maroon Tigers scored in double figures, in a 65-59 loss to the Albany State Golden Rams.
Morehouse jumped out fast and led by as many as nine points through most of the first half, before Albany State pulled ahead 31-28 at the break. The Golden Rams surged in the second half, leading by as many as 10 for most of the period. Morehouse rallied to within two points with three minutes left, but Albany hit seven straight free throws, to put the game away.
Hitting 5-of-7 shots from the field and four free throws, Callaway had his highest point total since transfering to Morehouse last year. He tied for game-high scoring honors with teammate Daniyal Faquir.
Mario Farris had 12 points, five rebounds and four assists. Shawn Allen contributed 11 points and a game-high seven rebounds.
Three Rams scored in double figures, led by Joshua Alford and Jaren Harris, who scored 13 points apiece. Albany State improved to 8-8 (7-7 SIAC).
The loss was the seventh straight by Morehouse and drops the Tigers to 3-11 (3-10 SIAC).
The Tigers will travel to Fort Valley, Tuesday, to take on the Wildcats, at 7:30 p.m.
