January 21, 2012 – TUSKEGEE, AL – Morehouse dropped its fifth game in a row, with a 69-60 loss to the Tuskegee Golden Tigers.
Tuskegee jumped out to an 11-2 lead in the first three minutes and forced Morehouse to play from behind almost all game. Morehouse closed it to 38-32 at the half and led briefly in the second half. After surrendering a two-point lead, Tuskegee regrouped and held on down the stretch, pushing Morehouse to 3-10 (3-8 SIAC).
As he has in the last five games, Shawn Allen carried the Morehouse scoring load, with 19 points and nine rebounds.
Cornez Nesbitt had his first double-double as a Maroon Tiger, scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Mario Farris scored 10 points, to go with two rebounds and four assists. A starter earlier in the season, Farris has had limited minutes in the last seven games. Starting in the absence of Andrae Nelson, Farris turned in a solid 29 minutes. Nelson, the team's leading scorer and rebounder suffered a concussion in a fall against Paine, Tuesday, and is out of the lineup indefinitely.
Five Golden Tigers scored in double figures, led by Joshua Eichelberger, with 18 points and Derrick White with 10 points and a game-high 15 rebounds. Tuskegee moved up to 7-5
Morehouse returns home Thursday, for a 7:30 p.m. matchup against the Clark Atlanta Panthers.
