Morehouse Defeats Clark Atlanta

February 12, 2011 – ATLANTA – Morehouse won round two of the Atlanta University Center border war, with a, 71-67, win over the Clark Atlanta Panthers.

The Tigers trailed 37-33 at halftime, but rebounded in the second period, to defeat the Panthers, who fell to 13-6 (12-5 SIAC).

Roderick Williams bounced back from a sub par game Thursday, to lead the Tigers, with 19 points. Williams scored four consecutive points midway through the second half, to put the Tigers up for good, following a nip-and-tuck three quarters of ties and lead changes. The team captain scored only one point and fouled out of the win over Albany State.

Morehouse improved to 9-10 and has been on a steady rise in the SIAC standings, where they are currently sixth, with a 9-8 conference record.

Dana Kendrid scored 15 points and led all rebounders with 11 boards, to record his first double-double, since joining the team in January. He tied for the game high, with four assists.

Daniyal Faquir continued his hot scoring, with 11 points. It was the fourth consecutive time he has reached double figures. He scored 34 points in Thursday's game and has boosted hit scoring average to 10 points-per-game.

Mario Farris had his best game as a Maroon Tiger, scoring nine points, grabbing seven rebounds and helping to shut down CAU's scoring leaders.

CAU's Najee Lane tied Morehouse's Roderick Williams for game-high scoring, with 19 points. Four other Panthers recorded double figures, but it wasn't enough for CAU, which is ranked third in the SIAC and #9 in the South Region.

Morehouse avenged a 77-68 loss to the Panthers, January 27. As in the past two years, the cross-campus rivals have split the regular season series.
