January 29, 2011 – ATLANTA – In the first game in which they led from wire to wire, the Maroon Tigers almost let a 19-point second-half lead slip away, but held on to win, 83-82, over the Albany State Golden Rams.
Morehouse led by 19 points with 15 minutes left and seemed poised for a blowout, but turnovers and poor shooting nearly derailed the Tigers, who improved to 5-8 (5-6 SIAC).
The Tigers led in rebounds 38-34 and turnovers 21-14.
Twelve Maroon Tigers got into the scoring column. #Malcolm Frank#, #Jelani Figures# and #Roderick Williams#led the way.
Currently the most accurate shooter in the SIAC, Williams hit 6-of-8 shots from the field and added four free throws, to finish with a team-high 16 points. He also chipped in eight rebounds and five blocked shots.
Figures tallied 10 points, two assists and two steals. Frank added 10 points.
#Joshiah Anabraba# led all rebounders with 11, to go with five points.
The Maroon Tigers return to Forbes Arena, Tuesday, at 7:30 p.m., to face the Fort Valley State Wildcats.
