January 27, 2011 – ATLANTA – In the biggest game of the season so far, Morehouse fell to the Clark Atlanta Panthers, 77-68, in the first of two cross campus battles schedued for the second half of the season.
The Maroon Tigers kept it close for most of the game, but stalled midway through the second half and were out-scored 23-5 over a seven-minute stretch. In that span, the Tigers committed seven turnovers and went 1-of-4 from the field.
Morehouse out-rebounded the Panthers 38-27 and shot better in the paint, to the tune of 30-14, yet trailed by 20 points with two minutes left.
Jelani Figures, Roderick Williams and newcomer Dana Kendrid scored 13 apiece for Morehouse, which fell to 4-8 (4-6 SIAC).
Playing in his first game for Morehouse, Kendrid hit 6-of-9 shots, before fouling out.
Morehouse returns to home action Saturday, at 3:00 p.m., against the Albany State University Golden Rams.
