Atlanta, GA | The SIAC office announced that
Sean Johnson (SO, Newnan HS, Newnan, GA) was selected as the defensive player of the week for his performance in the XXVI Chicago Football Classic against Kentucky State. With the award, Johnson becomes the second consecutive Maroon Tiger, following
Caleb Grant last week, to receive the honor from the conference. This is the first instance that the Morehouse football program has won the award two consecutive weeks with two different student-athletes.
Johnson led the Maroon Tigers with 12 tackles (5 solo), with 2.5 credited as tackles-for-loss, including one sack. Johnson's performance help lead the Maroon Tigers to their first victory of the season before a crowd of over 25,000 at Soldier Field in Chicago, IL. Johnson currently sits second in the SIAC in tackles (30) and is tied with teammate
Caleb Grant with 5.5 tackles-for-loss for the season.
