Game Summary

First Quarter

Kentucky State wasted little time getting on the scoreboard. After forcing a Morehouse punt on the opening possession, the Thorobreds marched 70 yards in three plays, capped by a 54-yard touchdown pass from Gainous to Cam Tucker with 12:54 remaining. The Thorobreds struck again midway through the quarter. A 76-yard completion to Darius Cyprian set up an 11-yard touchdown pass to Tucker, extending Kentucky State's lead to 14-0 with 8:28 remaining.

Morehouse moved the ball on a pair of possessions but could not finish either drive, leaving the Maroon Tigers scoreless through the opening 15 minutes.

Second Quarter

Kentucky State extended its lead to 21-0 just seven seconds into the second quarter when Gainous connected with Cory Jackson for a 24-yard touchdown.

Morehouse responded with its best offensive drive of the afternoon. Scott led the Maroon Tigers on a 10-play, 75-yard possession, finding Azari Brown for a 4-yard touchdown pass with 11:18 remaining. Davis Rowe added the extra point to cut the deficit to 21-7.

The Morehouse defense then gave the offense another opportunity when Reaves recovered a Gainous fumble at the Morehouse 38-yard line. The Maroon Tigers took advantage of the turnover, moving 37 yards in seven plays before Rowe connected on a 42-yard field goal with 6:58 remaining. The kick brought Morehouse within 11 points at 21-10.

Kentucky State answered with a 10-play, 57-yard drive, ending with Gainous finding Cyprian for a 24-yard touchdown with 1:52 left. The Thorobreds carried a 27-10 lead into halftime.

Third Quarter

Neither team scored in the third quarter as the Morehouse defense settled in and kept Kentucky State off the scoreboard. Arthur Cutler III recorded an eight-yard sack of Gainous on Kentucky State's opening possession, helping force a punt.

Morehouse put together an eight-play drive on its first possession of the half but was forced to punt. The Maroon Tigers later moved from their own 6-yard line to near midfield, highlighted by a 25-yard completion from Scott to Gibson. However, the possession ended when Kentucky State linebacker Elijah Henderson intercepted a Scott pass at the Thorobreds' 38-yard line.

Kentucky State maintained its 27-10 advantage entering the final quarter.

Fourth Quarter

The Morehouse defense opened the fourth quarter by forcing another Kentucky State punt, but the Maroon Tigers could not generate a scoring drive. Kentucky State added the game's final touchdown with 8:46 remaining when Gainous connected with Joshua Thomas Jr. on a 9-yard scoring pass. The extra point extended the lead to 34-10.

Morehouse continued looking for an offensive spark, but the Thorobreds' defense kept the Maroon Tigers off the scoreboard for the remainder of the afternoon. Kentucky State ran out the final seconds to secure the victory.
