Maroon Tigers Lose Homecoming Battle To Golden Rams

| By:
Box Score Apparently still reeling from the 49-0 loss toTuskegee last week, the Maroon Tigers were listless and lifeless against the SIAC's #1 defense and fell 31-14 to the Albany State Golden Rams, at the 2014 Homecoming game.

The two Morehouse touchdowns came via the pass, as the running game ground to a halt against a masssive ASU front line.

Jordan Tarver started again at quarterback, in place of the injured Monqavious Johnson, who come in for several plays. Johnson threw five passes, but the only one he connected on was to an ASU defender.

Tarver connected with Devon Mann for both touchdowns -- a 28-yarder late in the second quarter and a 23-yarder late in the fourth quarter. For much of the game, Tarver was scrambling and throwing on the run. He completed 17 of 28 passes, threw two interceptions and was sacked three times.

Morehouse running backs netted five total yards. Malik Johnson rushed for 25 yards, but they were offset by the negative rushing yardage of three other rushers.

Mann hauled in four passes, for 57 yards while nine other Morehouse receivers combined for 13 catches and 116 yards. The 173 passing yards was the Tiger's share of the teams 178 total yards.

Busy all day against the ASU offense that dominated the time of possession and amassed 407 yards, Demario Dixon, with 12 tackles and Lance White with 10, led the Morehouse defense. Clarence Christian collected eight tackles and Morehouse's only sack.

Temitayo Agoro added to his conference leading punt stats, with seven kicks for 277 yards, including one for a season-high 77 yards.

Morehouse fell to 4-3 (2-2 SIAC). Albany State improved to 4-2 (4-0 SIAC).

Morehouse will travel to Columbia, SC, Saturday, at 2 p.m. and be the Homecoming guests of the Benedict College Tigers.
