Morehouse Falls to Howard in Nation's Football Classic

September 10, 2011 – WASHINGTON, DC – After building an 11-point third quarter lead, Morehouse relinquished 21 unanswered points and lost to the Howard Bison, 30-27.

The Maroon Tigers nearly erased the 10-point fourth quarter deficit, when Latavius Watts returned a fumble and ran it in from the 15-yard line. The Morehouse defense held the Bison and had the ball on the Howard 25 when time expired.

Morehouse got on the board first with an 18-yard touchdown reception by Derrick Hector from reserve quarterback Donnay Ragland.

Howard responded three minutes later when Willie Carter got loose in the left flat and caught a 39-yarder from quarterback Greg McGhee over defender Justin Murray.

The Bison scored a safety when the snap to Morehouse punter Brandon Hoffman sailed over his head into the end zone.

Morehouse bounced back, with a one yard dive into the end zone by Winston Bodrick.

 Morehouse led at halftime, 14-9.

In the third quarter, David Carter sprinted 79 yards for the longest play of the game, to give Morehouse the 20-9 advantage.

But Howard quickly answered with touchdown passes of 29 and 23 yards, followed by a 17-yard rushing touchdown.
