The NCAA regional rankings were just released and the Morehouse football team earned the #8 spot in Super Region Two.
NCAA Super Region Two is comprised of teams from the SIAC, South Atlantic Conference, and the Gulf South Conference as well as Division II independents North Greenville and UNC-Pembroke. The top six teams from each super region make the NCAA DII Football Playoffs.
SIAC overall and East Division leader, Albany State 6-2 (5-1 SIAC), is ranked #6. Stillman, the SIAC's West Division leader 6-2 (6-1 SIAC) sits at #9.
Regional football rankings will be released each week until the end of the regular season on November 12th.
Following the dramatic Homecoming victory over Benedict (See Full Story), the Maroon Tigers will travel to Fort Valley, GA, Saturday, at 6 p.m., for a must-win game against the Wildcats.
Currently, in second place in the SIAC East Division, Morehouse must win its final two games (Fort Valley and Kentucky State) and hope that Albany State falters in one of its two remaining games (Benedict and Fort Valley), to keep pace in the hunt for the SIAC championship and the Division II playoffs.
Morehouse and Albany State have identical records, but ASU has the advantage in the tiebreaker, based on a head-to-head win over the Maroon Tigers.
