ATLANTA, GA | The Morehouse Maroon Tigers are gearing up for another electrifying season in 2025, packed with historic rivalries, prestigious classics, and must-watch matchups. Head Coach
Terance Mathis will begin his sophomore campaign with a revamped coaching staff and an exciting recruiting class. As one of the premier HBCU football programs, Morehouse takes pride in its tradition of excellence both on and off the field. This season, the Maroon Tigers will face longtime rivals in several classic games, battle for conference supremacy, and aim for a deep postseason run.
The 2025 schedule will feature three home games, four Classics (three neutral site), senior day, and of course, homecoming on October 18th.
The HBCU Kickoff Classic – Morehouse vs. Johnson C. Smith (August 30), Boston, MA
The Maroon Tigers will kick off the 2025 season in a historic way by taking part in the HBCU Kickoff Classic, a special showcase game featuring two storied HBCU programs. Morehouse and Johnson C. Smith have met numerous times over the years, and this game will give both teams a national platform in a city with deep African American history. The game will provide an opportunity for alumni and supporters in the Northeast to witness the Maroon Tigers in action, while also expanding the visibility of HBCU football on a grand stage.

NY HBCU Classic – Morehouse vs. Howard (September 13), East Rutherford, NJ
One of the most anticipated matchups of the season, Morehouse will travel to MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ, for the NY HBCU Classic against Howard University. This game brings together two of the most prestigious HBCUs in the country in an event that celebrates culture, excellence, and competition.
The NY HBCU Classic has become a major showcase for Black college football, featuring a battle of the bands, career fairs, and celebrations of Black excellence. Howard, a perennial powerhouse in HBCU football, will provide a tough test for the Maroon Tigers. Expect an electric atmosphere as these two legendary programs clash in front of thousands of alumni and fans in the New York area.
September 20 – Kentucky State (Family & Friends Day), Atlanta, GA
The Maroon Tigers open their home schedule with a special game as they welcome fans, family, and friends to celebrate the season together. Kentucky State has always been a tough opponent, making this a key early-season test. The Maroon Tigers lone victory last season came against the Thorobreds.
September 27 – @ Edward Waters, Jacksonville, FL
The Maroon Tigers head to Jacksonville, FL, to take on Edward Waters, an up-and-coming program in the SIAC.
Morehouse-Tuskegee Classic – Morehouse vs. Tuskegee (October 4), TBA
One of the oldest and most celebrated rivalries in all of college football, the Morehouse-Tuskegee Classic is a game that dates back over a century. This fierce showdown is more than just football—it's a tradition that unites generations of alumni and fans from both schools.
Tuskegee has historically been one of the strongest programs in HBCU football, and this game is always a hard-fought battle. Whether it's a dramatic finish, a defensive struggle, or an offensive explosion, the Classic never disappoints. Morehouse will host this year's contest in Atlanta, where the home crowd will look to propel the Maroon Tigers to victory in this legendary rivalry.

A critical conference matchup on the road against Central State, another SIAC opponent looking to challenge for supremacy.
Homecoming – Morehouse vs. Lane (October 18), Atlanta, GA
Homecoming at Morehouse is always a spectacle, filled with alumni celebrations, concerts, and an entire weekend dedicated to the culture of the Maroon Tigers. This year, Morehouse will take on Lane College in a crucial SIAC battle, looking to send the homecoming crowd home with a victory.
October 25 – @ Savannah State, Savannah, GA
A tough road contest against Savannah State, a program known for its strong defensive play.
Senior Day – Morehouse vs. Allen (November 1), Atlanta, GA
Before the regular season wraps up, the Maroon Tigers will honor their senior class in their final home game against Allen University. This game will be an emotional one, as the team recognizes the hard work, dedication, and contributions of its senior leaders who have helped shape the program.
The Big Cat Classic – Morehouse vs. Clark Atlanta (November 8), Atlanta, GA
The battle for Atlanta supremacy returns in the Big Cat Classic, as Morehouse and Clark Atlanta renew their rivalry in one of the most highly anticipated games of the season. Morehouse will travel down the road to face the Panthers in a game that will determine AUC bragging rights.
Morehouse and Clark Atlanta, separated by blocks, have been going head-to-head for decades in this intense rivalry. The game is known for its passionate fan bases, thrilling finishes, and high-energy atmosphere. Whether it's a last-second touchdown, a defensive stand, or a special teams play that swings momentum, the Big Cat Classic never disappoints.
