ATLANTA, GA | Morehouse College quarterback Miles Scott (Laurel, MD, Atholton HS) and linebacker Stephen Rowser (Cartersville, GA, Cartersville HS) have been named the SIAC Players of the Week following their standout performances in the 89th Morehouse–Tuskegee Classic. Scott earned Offensive Player of the Week, while Rowser claimed Defensive Player of the Week after the Maroon Tigers' 27–20 comeback win over Tuskegee in Montgomery, Ala.—Morehouse's first victory of the season and its first over the Golden Tigers since 2021.
Scott capped a signature rivalry performance by throwing four touchdown passes and engineering three consecutive scoring drives from late in the third quarter through the closing minutes. On Monday, Oct. 6, he also received national recognition as the BOXTOROW Division II HBCU Player of the Week, underscoring his impact on one of the program's most memorable wins in recent years. During the game against Tuskegee, Scott accomplished a rare performance, personnally accounting for over 100% of the team's offensive production. Scott passed for 326 yards while rushing for 41 yards, totalling 367 yards. As a team, the Maroon Tigers gained 362 yards of total offense. Scott accounted for 101% of the Maroon Tigers offensive output against the Golden Tigers. According to Quarter Phi Back, Scott is ranked 6th, out of all HBCU quarterbacks on all levels, on the 2025 HBCU National Watchlist. Scott is currently on pace to break multiple single-season Maroon Tiger passing records.
On the other side of the ball, Rowser anchored a defense that surrendered just three points after halftime. The senior linebacker filled the stat sheet with double-digit tackles, three tackles for loss and a pair of sacks, and one forced fumble, repeatedly disrupting Tuskegee's backfield and helping close out the game with late stops.
The multiple SIAC player of the week awards received by the Maroon Tigers mark the first time since 2012 that Morehouse football have received multiple awards in the same week (RB David Carter, OL Richard Washington, vs. Kentucky State, Week Ten).
Saturday's result at Cramton Bowl not only snapped a rivalry skid but also provided a springboard for the remainder of the season, highlighting the team's resilience and the leadership of Scott and Rowser on both sides of the ball.
