Box Score Atlanta, GA- Tonight the Maroon Tigers hosted their first game of the season with a win against Talladega College, 61-54.
Morehouse would start the game off by winning the jump ball, and sophomore Mohamad Diallo would give his team the first two points of the game. The Maroon Tigers would keep the lead until the last 9 minutes of the game when Talladega would tie the score making it 18-18. Freshman Tre Simmons would give his team the lead by making a jumper making the score 18-20.
The Maroon Tigers hit a bump in the road as they lost their shooting moment until the last 4 minutes of the game when Robin White would put two more points on the board. The Tornadoes would keep an 8 point lead on Morehouse until Andrew Stewart shot a three pointer with .24 seconds on the clock ending the first half with a score of 30-35.
Morehouse would come back from the half with a small rocky start by getting a turnover and allowing the Tornadoes to get the first points of the second half, but junior Andrew Stewart would quickly respond with a three pointer and with an assist by Ibn Williams. At 13:46, Elijah Stewart would tie the game up with a three pointer making the score 39-39. The Tornadoes would go the rest of the game trying to take their lead back, but Morehouse was hungry for a win and finished the game with a free throw by Ibn Williams giving them the first win of the season.
The two lead scorers for Talladega were Keshawn Pegues and Jevon Tatum who would both tie for 11 points.
Andrew Stewart would lead the Maroon Tigers with double digits of 20 points. Following behind Stewart was Mohamad Diallo who would kicked off his first year at Morehouse with 12 points.
The Maroon Tigers will be back in action at home next Monday, Nov 7
th, for another exhibition match against Harvard University. Tip off at 5pm.
