ATLANTA, GA | Robert Robinson Jr. continues to add to one of the most decorated individual seasons in recent Morehouse baseball history.
Robinson was selected to the D2CCA All-South Region Second Team as the designated hitter, the Division II Conference Commissioners Association announced as part of its 2026 All-South Region Baseball Team. The junior was one of five SIAC players named to the team, with all five conference selections earning second-team honors.
Robinson was joined among the SIAC's D2CCA honorees by Garrett Lott of Spring Hill, Ty Mitzel of Edward Waters, Daniel Donaldson-Fountain of Edward Waters and Jordan Smith of Edward Waters. The Gulf South Conference led the South Region with 17 selections, followed by the Sunshine State Conference with 12 and the SIAC with five.
"This honor is a reflection of the work Robert put in every day and the standard he set for our program," Morehouse head coach Antonio Grissom said. "To have that kind of power, discipline and production from the leadoff spot is rare. He gave us a chance to score every time he stepped in the box, and he handled every role we asked of him at a high level. I am proud to see him recognized among the best players in the South Region."
The D2CCA honor adds to an already impressive postseason résumé for Robinson. He was previously selected First Team All-SIAC at designated hitter and Second Team All-SIAC at catcher, while also earning NCBWA Second Team All-South Region recognition at designated hitter.
Robinson also recently represented Morehouse and the SIAC on another stage, starting in the Minority Baseball Prospects Final Showdown All-Star Game, which featured the SIAC vs. the HBCUAC last Friday in Montgomery, Ala.
"Robert's recognition is another proud moment for Morehouse baseball and for Maroon Tiger athletics," Morehouse Director of Athletics Harold Ellis said. "He represents the type of student-athlete we want in our program — talented, competitive, resilient and committed to carrying Morehouse the right way. His success also speaks to the growth of our baseball program and the direction we are moving under Coach Grissom's leadership."
Serving as Morehouse's leadoff hitter, Robinson delivered rare production from the top of the order. He led the Maroon Tigers with a .378 batting average, 56 hits, 46 runs scored, 13 home runs, 104 total bases, a .703 slugging percentage and a .508 on-base percentage. He also drove in 44 runs, drew 37 walks, was intentionally walked nine times and stole 11 bases in 12 attempts.
Robinson's blend of power, patience and athleticism made him one of the most difficult outs in the South Region. Despite batting leadoff, he produced like a run-producer in the middle of the lineup while consistently setting the tone for a Morehouse offense that helped drive the program's breakthrough season.
Morehouse finished the year 25-20 overall and 17-14 in SIAC play, posting the program's best season by record and making its deepest SIAC Baseball Tournament run in more than three decades.
Robinson's D2CCA selection gives Morehouse another regional honor and further cements his place among the top offensive players in NCAA Division II's South Region.
