Morehouse Baseball Earns Major SIAC Recognition

Pinckney Receives Elite 16 Award, Braswell Named Freshman of the Year, Grissom Tabbed Coach of the Year

ATLANTA, GA | Morehouse baseball's breakthrough 2026 season received conference-wide recognition Thursday as the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its 2026 Baseball All-Conference honors, with the Maroon Tigers collecting multiple all-conference selections, a major individual award, the league's Coach of the Year honor and one of the SIAC's most prestigious academic distinctions.

Senior shortstop Elijah Pinckney highlighted the announcement for Morehouse by receiving the SIAC Elite 16 Award, the conference's highest academic achievement honor. The Elite 16 Award is presented to student-athletes who display exemplary performance in both athletics and the classroom, recognizing those who represent the best of the SIAC as competitors, students and campus leaders.

Pinckney's recognition adds another chapter to one of the most decorated careers in recent Morehouse baseball history. The senior shortstop also earned Second Team All-SIAC honors after a standout season and career in which he reached his 200th career hits, collected 300 career total bases, and had his No. 6 jersey retired on Senior Day.

Freshman Tripp Braswell headlined the player superlatives for Morehouse, earning SIAC Freshman of the Year after emerging as one of the league's top young two-way contributors. Braswell gave the Maroon Tigers value across the diamond, seeing time at third base, second base and on the mound while becoming a key piece of Morehouse's rise during one of the program's strongest seasons in decades.

Morehouse head coach Antonio Grissom was named SIAC Coach of the Year, a fitting recognition after guiding the Maroon Tigers into the upper tier of the conference and helping lead the program to one of its best regular seasons in recent memory. Morehouse was predicted to finish eighth in the conference in the preseason. Under Grissom, Morehouse entered the postseason with momentum, a winning record and a roster that produced multiple all-conference performers.

"This is a tremendous moment for Morehouse baseball and a reflection of the work that Coach Grissom, his staff and our student-athletes have put into building this program the right way," said Morehouse Director of Athletics Harold Ellis. "To see Elijah Pinckney receive the Elite 16 Award — the SIAC's highest academic honor — says everything about the standard we want our student-athletes to represent. Elijah has been exceptional on the field, in the classroom and as a Man of Morehouse. Along with Tripp being named Freshman of the Year, Coach Grissom being honored by his peers, and multiple Maroon Tigers earning all-conference recognition, this is a proud day for our baseball program."

Senior outfielder Elijah James earned First Team All-SIAC honors, giving Morehouse a first-team selection in the outfield. James' production and consistency helped anchor the Maroon Tigers' lineup throughout conference play.

Junior Robert Robinson Jr. was one of the most versatile honorees in the league, earning First Team All-SIAC recognition at designated hitter and Second Team All-SIAC honors at catcher. Robinson's dual recognition reflected his impact both behind the plate and in the middle of the Morehouse order.

Freshman right-hander Cam Simmons was named Second Team All-SIAC as a starting pitcher, giving Morehouse one of the league's top young arms on the all-conference list. Simmons' selection capped a strong freshman campaign in which he became a key part of the Maroon Tigers' weekend rotation.
