Cam Simmons has been named SIAC Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced in its weekly baseball honors release, which was issued at noon Tuesday. Simmons was recognized after a strong all-around weekend in Morehouse's road SIAC series sweep at Clark Atlanta.
Simmons delivered his signature outing of the weekend in Morehouse's 9-3 win in the scheduled seven-inning game on Saturday. He threw a complete game, allowing just four hits and three earned runs while striking out four as the Maroon Tigers completed the sweep. The victory also moved Simmons to 6-1 on the season.
He also added to the effort offensively. In Sunday's 17-14 series finale, Simmons contributed at the plate as the designated hitter by drawing two walks and scoring two runs, helping Morehouse finish off the weekend with a comeback win.
The honor adds to a strong stretch for the Maroon Tigers as they continue their push through the SIAC schedule. Morehouse enters its next conference weekend coming off a sweep of Clark Atlanta and carrying momentum back home.

Morehouse returns home this weekend to face Spring Hill College in a three-game SIAC series. The Maroon Tigers are scheduled to open the series on Friday, April 17 at 4:00 p.m., followed by a Saturday doubleheader on April 18 at 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Prior to the doubleheader on Saturday, the Maroon Tigers will induct its latest class in the baseball Den of Honor.
