Atlanta, GA | Morehouse College swept this week's Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference baseball honors as Ian Makle was named SIAC Pitcher of the Week and RJ Robinson was selected as SIAC Hitter of the Week, the league announced. The duo helped power the Maroon Tigers to a 4-1 week, highlighted by a three-game conference sweep of LeMoyne-Owen.
Makle delivered a dominant week on the mound, going 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA across 7.0 innings over two appearances. He allowed just four hits, walked one, and struck out 10 while holding opposing hitters to a .167 batting average. He first gave Morehouse a major lift in relief during a 7-5 win over Stillman, working 3.0 scoreless innings with three strikeouts. Makle followed with another strong outing in the conference opener against LeMoyne-Owen, tossing 4.0 scoreless innings and striking out seven to earn the victory in another 7-5 Maroon Tigers win.
Robinson paced the Morehouse offense throughout the week, batting .316 (6-for-19) with six runs scored, nine RBI, five home runs, and four walks while posting a 1.105 slugging percentage over five games.
The slugging first baseman homered in three different contests during the week, including a home run against Stillman and another in the opener against LeMoyne-Owen. His biggest performance came in the second game of the March 14 doubleheader, when he went 3-for-4 with three home runs, five RBI, four runs scored, and a walk in an 11-1 Morehouse victory.
Makle and Robinson were central figures in one of Morehouse's strongest stretches of the season, with the Maroon Tigers combining strong pitching and timely power production to put together a successful week in SIAC play.
