MOREHOUSE’S ELIJAH PINCKNEY SELECTED FOR MINORITY PROSPECTS HBCU ALL-STAR BASEBALL GAME

ATLANTA, GA | Morehouse College junior shortstop Elijah Pinckney has been selected to participate in the 2025 Minority Prospects HBCU All-Star Baseball Game, following a stellar season in which he established himself as one of the top all-around players in Black college baseball.

Pinckney, a native of Morningside, Maryland, was a force at the top of the Maroon Tigers lineup. In 40 games played, he batted .407, with 50 hits in 123 at-bats, scoring 58 runs. He tallied 7 doubles, 2 triples, and 5 home runs, and drove in 34 RBIs while compiling 76 total bases. His on-base percentage soared to .599, thanks in part to 51 walks and 11 hit-by-pitches, and he slugged .618 for an elite 1.217 OPS.

The junior shortstop was also a constant threat on the bases, swiping 26 bases in 29 attempts, and showcased elite discipline with just 10 strikeouts across the season. Defensively, Pinckney recorded a .982 fielding percentage with only three errors in 167 total chances, contributing to 20 double plays turned at shortstop.

Conference Recognition

Within the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC), Pinckney's performance has been outstanding:

  • Batting Average: 2nd in the SIAC at .407

  • On-Base Percentage: 1st in the SIAC at .599

  • Runs Scored: 1st in the SIAC with 58 runs

  • Walks: 1st in the SIAC with 51 walks

  • Stolen Bases: 3rd in the SIAC with 26 stolen bases

His combination of speed, patience, and power made him one of the most dynamic offensive players in the country.

The 2025 Minority Prospects HBCU All-Star Game will spotlight elite talent from Historically Black Colleges and Universities, giving players exposure to professional scouts and national media.  The 5th Annual Minority Baseball Prospects HBCU All-Star Game, hosted at the state-of-the-art Atrium Health Park, home of the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers, will occur on Saturday, May 31 at 7PM.  The game will be available live on YouTube.
