Morehouse Tigers Defeats Morris College On Back Of Clutch Display From James Thorpe

ATLANTA, GA | James Thorpe drove in four runs on two hits to lead Morehouse Tigers past Morris College 14-4 on Tuesday. 

Morris College got on the board in the top of the first inning after a ground out, and a line out, each scoring one run.

In the bottom of the first inning, Thorpe hit a grand slam to left field.

Four more Morehouse Tigers runs crossed the plate in the fourth inning to extend the lead to 12-4. Korneilus Durant induced Darrien Chapman to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, and Raymond Jenkins hit an inside the park home run, scoring three runs.

Ian Makle earned the win for Morehouse Tigers. The hurler surrendered one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out four and walking one. Roman Stamps started on the bump for Morehouse Tigers. The starting pitcher gave up five hits and four runs over two innings, striking out none and walking two. Quenton Mitchell Jr pitched two innings of zero-run ball for Morehouse Tigers in relief. The reliever surrendered one hit, striking out two and walking one.

Morehouse Tigers tallied 11 hits in the game. Thorpe and Lee Hodges each collected two hits for Morehouse Tigers. Elijah Pinckney stole two bases. Morehouse Tigers ran wild on the base paths, collecting four stolen bases for the game.
