Pinckney Leads the Way as Morehouse Dominates Kentucky State in Sweep

Maroon Tigers outscore Thorobreds 50-2 during three-game series.

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 ATLANTA, GA | The Maroon Tigers dominated the Kentucky State Thorobreds to open SIAC conference play, over the weekend, at Gresham Park.  During the three-game series, which was also the season's home opener for the Maroon Tigers, Morehouse outscored Kentucky State, 50-2.

GAME ONE - MOREHOUSE 31, KENTUCKY STATE 2

Elijah Pinckney Helps Morehouse Tigers Slug Their Way To Victory Against Kentucky State University

Elijah Pinckney hit two home runs and drove in seven as Morehouse Tigers defeated Kentucky State University 31-2 on Saturday. Pinckney homered in the third and first innings.

Morehouse Tigers jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Pinckney hit a solo home run to left field, Raymond Jenkins drew a walk, scoring one run, Myles Gordon singled, scoring one run, and Calvin Butts hit a grand slam to left field.

Morehouse Tigers added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Morehouse Tigers scored on a wild pitch, and Vernon Clay walked, each scoring one run.

Nine more Morehouse Tigers runs crossed the plate in the third inning to extend the lead to 18-0. Victor Clay singled, scoring one run, Mariano McLean was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Brady Wooldridge induced Jenkins to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, Butts drew a walk, scoring one run, Clay drew a walk, scoring one run, and Pinckney hit a grand slam to center field.

Morehouse Tigers scored five runs on four hits in the bottom of the fifth inning. Jalen Gibbs grounded out, scoring one run, Andrew Rhoden doubled, scoring two runs, Clay drew a walk, scoring one run, and Triston Minor singled, scoring one run.

Saivion Mohammed earned the win for Morehouse Tigers. The right-handed pitcher gave up three hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out three and walking six. Quenton Mitchell Jr threw one inning of no-run ball for Morehouse Tigers in relief. The righty gave up one hit, striking out three and walking none.

Morehouse Tigers accumulated 20 hits in the game. Clay, Robert Robinson, Rhoden, and Minor each collected multiple hits for Morehouse Tigers. Butts paced Morehouse Tigers with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, piling up 17 walks for the game. Clay stole two bases. Morehouse Tigers ran wild on the base paths, tallying three stolen bases for the game. Morehouse Tigers turned one double play in the game. Morehouse Tigers didn't commit a single error in the field. Clay had the most chances in the field with four.

GAME TWO – MOREHOUSE 18, KENTUCKY STATE 0

Elijah Pinckney Puts On Strong Contact Performance As Morehouse Tigers Take The Win Over Kentucky State University

Elijah Pinckney collected three hits in three at bats, as Morehouse Tigers defeated Kentucky State University 18-0 on Saturday. Pinckney doubled in the second inning, singled in the third inning, and singled in the sixth inning.

Morehouse Tigers got on the board in the first inning after Ryan Campbell induced Vernon Clay to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored.

Morehouse Tigers scored seven runs on five hits in the bottom of the second inning. Pinckney doubled, scoring two runs, Robert Robinson singled, scoring two runs, James Thorpe singled, scoring one run, Raymond Jenkins singled, scoring one run, and Satchel Hamilton drew a walk, scoring one run.

Morehouse Tigers added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Thorpe grounded into a fielder's choice, Robinson scored after tagging up, Calvin Butts singled to left field, and Myles Gordon singled to center field, each scoring one run.

Noah Grayson earned the win for Morehouse Tigers. The hurler gave up one hit and zero runs over five innings, striking out nine and walking three. Campbell took the loss for Kentucky State University.  Brian Uquart and Ian Makle each came on in relief for Morehouse Tigers and shutdown Kentucky State University.

Morehouse Tigers amassed 11 hits in the game. Robinson, Thorpe, Pinckney, Gordon, Butts, Clay, and Jenkins each drove in two runs for Morehouse Tigers. Robinson paced Morehouse Tigers with four walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying 18 walks for the game. Pinckney stole three bases. Morehouse Tigers stole three bases in the game. Morehouse Tigers turned one double play in the game. Morehouse Tigers didn't commit a single error in the field. Hamilton had the most chances in the field with 11.

GAME THREE – MOREHOUSE 11, KENTUCKY STATE 0

Raymond Jenkins Drives In 4 To Lead Morehouse Tigers Past Kentucky State University

Raymond Jenkins drove in four runs on three hits to lead Morehouse Tigers past Kentucky State University 11-0 on Sunday. Jenkins doubled in the first inning, scoring three runs, and singled in the sixth inning, scoring one.

Morehouse Tigers got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Jenkins doubled, scoring three runs, and Calvin Butts singled, scoring one run.

Cameron Solomon earned the win for Morehouse Tigers. The starting pitcher allowed two hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out three and walking three. Somer Cedeno took the loss for Kentucky State University.  Julian Goodman tossed two innings of no-run ball for Morehouse Tigers in relief. The right-handed pitcher allowed zero hits, striking out three and walking none.

Morehouse Tigers tallied 11 hits in the game. Butts and Jenkins each collected three hits for Morehouse Tigers. Myles Gordon collected two hits for Morehouse Tigers in three at bats. Morehouse Tigers turned one double play in the game. Morehouse Tigers were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Robert Robinson had the most chances in the field with eight.
