Scott’s Four TDs Lift Morehouse Over Tuskegee, 27–20, in Morehouse-Tuskegee Classic Comeback

MONTGOMERY, AL | Morehouse stormed back behind quarterback Miles Scott's four-touchdown night to topple Tuskegee, 27–20, in the annual Morehouse–Tuskegee Classic at Cramton Bowl. Down 17–0 early, a clamp-down second half by the defense and timely connections to Kamrin Brunson and Maurie Veney delivered the Maroon Tigers' first win over the Golden Tigers since 2021, and the first win in the classic's new home.

Game Summary

  • Tuskegee raced to a 17–0 lead on a 27-yard TD run (5:34 1Q), a 27-yard field goal (12:05 2Q) and a 59-yard TD pass (6:40 2Q).
  • After a Tuskegee fumble, Morehouse answered before halftime: Miles Scott hit Nicholas Woodford on a 44-yard touchdown with 1:04 left in the second quarter (17–6).
  • The Maroon Tigers drew closer in the third: Scott found Kamrin Brunson for a 25-yard score at 5:17 (20–13).
  • Fourth-quarter surge: Scott to Brunson again, this time from 24 yards with 5:54 remaining to pull level, then the game-winner to tight end Maurice Veney from 14 yards with 1:55 left.
  • Final: Morehouse 27, Tuskegee 20.

Game Notes — With the Win

  • First victory over Tuskegee since 2021.
  • Morehouse improves to 1–4 (1–2 SIAC); Tuskegee falls to 2–4 (1–3 SIAC).
  • Morehouse outscored Tuskegee 21–3 after halftime (7 in the 3rd, 14 in the 4th).
  • Scott's four touchdowns in a single game performance was only the 12th time a Maroon Tiger has thrown at least that many touchdowns in a single game (team record, five, Jimmy Davis vs. Kentucky State, 1987) and the first time since 2017 a Maroon Tiger has four touchdowns in a single game.
  • Scott has thrown for 325 yards or more in two of the past three games.  A quarterback has only thrown for 325 yards or more twice in a single season only one previous time in the 125 previous Maroon Tiger football seasons (Ruben DuPree, 2006).

With the rivalry drought snapped, Morehouse leaves Montgomery with momentum and a clear blueprint—Scott's steady hand and a defense that allowed just three second-half points. The Maroon Tigers turn the page to their next test against Central State on Saturday, Oct. 11 at 1:00 p.m., aiming to stack wins and turn this comeback into the spark that redefines their season.
