The Maroon Tigers Fall To 0-4 On The Season With Loss Against Edward Waters

Jacksonville, FL- After the tough loss against ASU in the HBCU NY Classic, the Maroon Tigers were hoping to get their first victory of the season against Edward Waters. However, Edward Water was just as hungry for their first win too and would come out the gates swinging which would lead them to walking away with the win, 44-13.

Edward Waters (1-3, 1-2 SIAC) came out of the gates hot, taking their opening drive 61 yards, culminating in a 12 yard touchdown pass from Jyron Russell to Deven Thompson to give them a 7-0 first quarter lead. The Tigers added to their advantage at the 2:01 mark of the first quarter when Irving Friedman connected on a 22-yard field goal to extend the lead to 10-0.

For EWU, Johntarrius Thomas scored the next touchdown which extend the Tigers lead to 17-0. At 4:41, DeShaun Hugee would score one more touch down which would leave EWU with the lead, 24-0.

Within four minutes into the 3rd quarter, Morehouse (0-4, 0-2 SIAC) would finally get their first points of the game on the board with a touchdown by Charles Daniels IV. The Tigers responded with another touchdown of their own by Johntarrious Thomas making the score, 30-7. The Maroon Tigers cut into the Tigers lead again at the 1:28 mark of the third on an 11-yard run by Derrach Wesh which would make the score, 30-13. Just before the quarter would end, Edward Waters would accomplish another touchdown finishing the 3rd quarter, 37-13.

Morehouse would have difficulty scoring anymore points in the 4th quarter and EWU capped off the scoring when DeShaun Hugee would get one more touchdown to secure the win.

The Maroon Tigers are on the road next weekend as they travel to Columbia, SC to take on Benedict College. Kickoff set for 6pm.
