Columbia, SC- The Maroon Tigers were hoping to get their first victory of the season against Benedict. However, Benedict had other plans as they would keep their winning streak going as they would take home the win final score, 27-3.
Benedict intercepted a Morehouse pass on their opening drive, and the Tigers took over and had a first down at the Morehouse 10-yard line. After three incomplete passes, Benedict kicked a 34-yard field goal by Tom Piccirillo to put Benedict up 3-0.
Morehouse got the ball and drove as close as the Benedict 7-yard line, where
Danny Elrod would kick a 24-yard field goal to tie the game at 3-3 with 3:50 left in the first quarter.
Benedict drove 70 yards on eight plays on the following possession, with
a touchdown by Rashad McCain
to make it 10-3. Benedict would add a 25-yard field goal by Piccirillo in the second quarter.
The Tigers closed out the first half with a touchdown by Jalen Jones with no time remaining in the first half to put the Tigers up 20-3 at the half.
After the first half Morehouse would struggle to get any more points on the board. Benedict tacked on another touchdown in the fourth quarter for the final 27-3 score.
