Morehouse Continues Their Winning Streak As They Beat Albany State

Albany, GA- The Maroon Tigers continue their two game winning streak as they beat Albany State, 60-58.

The game between Morehouse and Albany State started out a little slow as both teams would go two minutes without scoring. At 18:45, a foul by Kendan Maddox would send Christian Lamar to the line putting up the first points of the game. The Golden Rams would quickly respond with a fastbreak three pointer and Lamar would respond with a three of his own. The scoring would go back and forth until the three minute mark when Morehouse would have a 10 point lead over the Golden Rams, but that 10 point lead would get broken down to only a seven point lead finishing the first half, 33-26.

Albany State would come back from the half ready to take the win as they put up the first points of the second half. Kerry Richardson would quickly put Morehouse back on the board, both teams would go back-and-forth until Morehouse advantaged to an 11 pointer over the Golden Rams at 12:46. Albany State would make a slow comeback as they tied the score within the last .58 seconds of the game. The entire arena was on the edge of their seats as both teams kept going back and forth but Morehouse would stay up by one point and a foul by the Golden Rams sent Ibn Williams to the line securing the win for the Maroon Tigers.

"I was very proud of the team for holding onto their composure and staying poise the entire time during a tough away game," said assistant coach Harold Clay. "Everybody played hard and together until the final buzzer. We have to stay locked in and get prepared for the same opponent on Saturday in Forbes Arena. We will take this time watch film and make proper adjustments."

Terin Wofford led the Golden Rams with 11 points and 3 steals. Maurice Dickson finished with 10 points and 4 rebounds.
 
Kerry Richardson led the Maroon Tigers with 16 points and 9 rebounds.  Ibn Williams contributed with 10 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists.
 
The Maroon Tigers shot 41.7% from the field, 40% from the 3-point line and 66.7% from the free throw line.
 
The Maroon Tigers and Golden Rams will have a rematch as they play again at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 28, at Forbes Arena.
