WILBERFORCE, OH – The Central State University Marauders defeated the Maroon Tigers in straight sets, 25-13, 25-8, 25-15. The loss dropped Morehouse to 0-16.
After a big win in the first set, the Marauders got off to a strong start in the second set by scoring 10 points in the first 11 plays. After a serve error ended Central State's scoring streak, the Marauders took control of the set by scoring eight points in the next nine plays. Central State's Alain Tamo-Noche ended the set on kill, 25-8.
After a slow start in the final set, Morehouse tied the set at 5 each on consecutive Central State errors. Maroon Tigers freshman Kristopher Woods had consecutive kills late in the set, which cut the Marauder lead to eight, 10-18. But Central State closed out the set by scoring four points in the last six plays for a 25-15 win.
Freshmen Woods and Nasir Barnes led the Maroon Tigers with three kills each. Colin Concepcion had a team-high four assists.
Morehouse hopes to secure their first win of the season when they travel to Kentucky State University on April 9. Game time is 2 p.m.
