ATLANTA, GA- The Maroon Tigers scored 18 runs for the second consecutive game in a rout of the Benedict College Tigers, 18-4.
Jaiden Proper, Daylun Powe-Salters and Saivion Mohammed each hit doubles in the first inning that drove in runs for the Maroon Tigers. Morehouse finished the first inning with six runs. The Maroon Tigers scored four more runs in the second inning, on the strength of RBIs by Mohammed and senior Miles Grayson. Morehouse led Benedict 10-0 at the end of the second.
After a four-run eighth inning by the Tigers, Morehouse put the game out of reach. The Maroon Tigers scored eight runs in the bottom of the sixth, capped by junior Kyle Dixon's late-inning score on a Jaylen Greene RBI. Benedict failed to score in the seventh inning, resulting in an 18-4 final.
Morehouse's win halted a three-game losing streak, and gives the Maroon Tigers a 5-17 record on the year.
Powe-Salters, Grayson and Mohammed each had two hits for the Maroon Tigers. Mohammed also led the team with four RBIs.
Morehouse will take on Benedict in a doubleheader on April 3. The games have start times of 12 p.m. and 3 p.m.
